August 27 is the night for our Ford vs. Buick race at MOM's Racing at NYIRP! We will have a special class for the Turbo Buick cars. We will have trophies for the fastest street-tired and slick-tired Turbo Buicks in competition. And, at the end of the night, we will mix the Turbo Buicks into our Elimination Round for a heads-up battle with the closest Mustang on the property. Please, spread this date around to your Buick buddies ..
I have the date confirmed for Saturday Sept 18th. We will have a cook out there - making it a day for the family and friends. Do you know anyone else who would want to bring a car? More details to follow. But for now - I REALLY need to know who plans to attend. You do not have to race to be a part of the event and have good time. There is a track charge only if you take your car down the track. For those who do take there car down the track - the cost will be about $25. Your Club will pay 50% of the total cost. Except those who are not a member of our club- there cost is $50. per race car. E-Mail Larry and let me know if you will attend.
For all other dates this is test and tune night gates open at 5:00 p.m. at New York International Raceway Park
From Rochester take 390 South, exit 8 Route 20A and go west. Take a right on 63 north. Turn left on route 36 south and go about 3 miles. Turn right on New Rd. From Buffalo take route 20A and turn left on route 36 and soon you will turn left on New Rd. Jerry Thompson knows a short cut. Call them 716 382-3030 or go to: Leicester web page On Oct 11, 2002 the Friday test and tune the gates opened about 5:30 and runs started at 6pm. A helmet was not required for street tire cars.
Had a very nice time last night at the track! We had 7-8 cars there. I picked up some goodies on the way- burgers, pop- chips and a roasted chicken. As the old saying goes- don't go shopping when your hungry! Well i got to the track and wanted to talk to every one- but the chicken was getting cold!I wolfed the whole thing down in 10.2 seconds at 135 bits per second! It was a great night to race. Paul P. almost broke into the 11's with a stock turbo-yikes! Joe R. made it to the high 11's- got to watch that guy. Jerry T. hit the 11.20's- he's got a new boost control set up-nice! Kevin T. is happy with his new mass air flow sys- still juggling the chips- almost hit the 11's. Ed C. and his family out of Rochester was there with yet another one of "T"s- I lost track - How many does he have? He almost had a 13 sec. run- its his dailydriver.-all stock. Don F. joined us - has a new turbo T-had problem with the mass air flow.. Yep - Jerry had a spare in his van! I swear, he has one of everything in that van! Oh- Don also has a T with a big block in it- runs low 6's in the 8th--thats a nice ride! Phil T. had his new ride out- has some serious power- just getting the bugs out. Oh- new car- new trailer- nice set up! And then there was Paul C. out of Olean. Yep- first time racing!! He was siked! He did OK!- Ran high 20's!!! HUH?? Well-he left his GN home and was racing his daily driver- an 86' Nissan Pick-up?? What the heck is that? I "immediately" expelled him from our group! Not really- his GN is not ready yet- having an oil pressure problem. He enjoyed the experience of racing though. And finally there was me-- I ate a lot, talked a lot, cooked food- and ate more and took a couple pictures! It was a good evening-No car and I didn't Break Anything!!
Tue evening race night - be there at 6:30 p.m.
From NYS Thruway: Take exit 49 (Depew), pay toll and turn left on Rt. 78

It was all good , except for our clubs representation- we had only two cars there. Mike Hamilton and Nick Leonardis were the shinning lights as they brought there rides. Overall, there were some 120 - 150 cars there. Guys blowing their tires off in the burn out box, Rock 103 with some tunes, 50-60 motorcycles, wrenching contest, food and a lot on onlookers - like me. It was a great night for a cruise.
The easiest way to get there from Rochester (and points west) is to get
on 490 going East. Exit at Route 31F (go East towards Fairport). Just
stay on 31F til you get there. 2445 West Walworth Rd. Macedon NY 315-986-9224

This is 2002 info TBD: Meet at 8:45 am at Cinta's - 5740 Genesee st to go in the event as a group-- We should have at least 6 cars entering Larry As we discussed at the picnic-- we will meet outside the race track-- on Genesee street (route 33) - about 1/4 mile before Gunnville road. (Gunnville is the road that the race track is on.). We will meet in the parking lot of CINTIS. No later than 8:30 am. I have talked to the organizer-- he suggested we be in line at the track by 9:00 am. So, meeting at 8:30 should be fine. CINTIS will be on the left hand side- heading east on 33. If your not there on time- you will not be able to park with our group. We need to go in as a group-- all in line. Those with trailers, will be in line and then once inside- will drop there trailers behind the new fuel building and drive on up to the circle. The price at the door is $12. - that includes you, your car and one passenger.. I forgot to ask him what the cost would be for additional people-- sorry.. Please drop me a line - Id like to know how many of you to look for... Thanks - Larry
The picnic will be at Larrys House!
Directions to Larry's house - its easy. Get onto Rt 5 south. I am
15 min south of Hamburg Beach. Stay on Rt 5 until you hit Derby. You
will see a McDonalds on the right and a Burger King on the left.
Once you are there, you have about 2 miles to go. You will see
the Post Office on your right. About 150 yards later, you will see
Sweetland road on your right- turn right there. Travel about a
1/4 mile and my house is on the left (7278 Sweetland) and my
office (with our sign) is on the right. If you are familiar with
Sturgeon Point Marina - Sweetland road is about a 1/4 mile before
that turn.
We had 9 turbo Buicks there and after all parked together. The food was awesome - steak, chicken, salads etc. Plenty to do for the kids with a playground, swimming, and volleyball. A great time! To see photos from the 2002 picnic click here and here

Jun 29, 2004
The club family outing was a lot of fun and I thank all who came.
I got to say Ron Turch put a lot into it - bring his cooking wears,
picking up most of the food and then cooking the main meal up for
all of us.- Nice Job and Thanks Ron.
We held the raffle on the T/A rear end cover, a club hat and a GN
T-shirt donated by Ken Feind. Well, Paul Cummings won the cover,
John MacPherson won the hat and I won the shirt! All was good. Even
my neighbor steamed corn on the cob for us. I thank all of you who
brought side dishes also. A few of you made it into the pool, there
was alot of you who took advantage of looking over all the Turbo cars
parked on our front lawn- it looked really cool. Don Foss tailored his
big block GN and had it out on the street in front of my house- sounded
really nice and laid down some fresh rubberized pavement. We took some
time to set the cars up for a nice photo and many of you have seen
that- cool! Then we capped it off with a camp fire and many of you
stayed. Thanks- that was the best part for me. The day and evening
were perfect- warm, sunny, dry and no wind. Camp fire was 30 ' straight
up. We cooked alot of smores and hot dogs - Steve Bayes won the hot
dog event - hands down! Ahhh- I think he won the marshmallow event also.
We talked about the events for the balance of the season. I have ask
Ed Chapman to add the balance to our event schedule. In addition it
was agreed I would e-mail everyone on our list to remind them of these
events and YOU would respond to these e-mails with a simple - YES or
No on your attendance. This would help me greatly in cases where members
call me and ask who's attending. At least I can give them a clue.
In an effort to create more communication between members- Ron will
be getting a list out to everyone that will list current members - names,
addresses and phone numbers.

We had 6 turbo Buicks there and after a morning rain that caused us all to re-detail our cars the weather held. We parked in a semi-circle around the merry-go-round. Vivian, Ed, Larry, John, and Brian all won a trophy for 2nd or 3rd place in classes production 80-89 modified 83-present and production muscle car 83-present. Mark won a huge cone trophy for best prepared in show. The kids had a blast going on the rides. To see photos from the 2001 car show click here
Fantasy Island show- yikes--- had six cars show and we took five awards!! Nice!! Winners were-- Vivian K, Ed C, Brian S., Larry G. and John O.!! John did the best with 2nd place in Modified.. Nice going John.. The Oldsmobile club organized the show- they went out of there way to make us feel welcome.. They set us up in the middle of the park- nice trees and we were in a group, despite the fact we were not in all the same classes!! Mark B. had his red "T" there also- he didn't win an award- but his won hands down for the best chick magnet-- thats because Mark was sitting on the hood with his speed-o"s on-- Ya had to see that!!

Ed, We have the classes broken into: 1) 84 and older sub class: 1974-1984 Production sub class: 1974-1984 Modified 2)85 and newer sub class: 1985-1991 Production sub class: 1985-1991 Modified So there are 4 classes to choose from for 80's cars. We did not break it down into brands because preregistrations weighed heavy towards Chevy and the day of the show you usually get the larger diversity. We felt breakdown of years would be more fair. Plus we have multiple awards for each class as like last year with a +/- system off adding awards to larger classes. Joe Jr joe@wnycarclubs.comTo see photos from the 2004 car show click here
